We abide by the ethics outlined by Spiritual Directors International.
As ordained ministers, we are required by law to report any and all suspected child abuse, dependent adult or elder abuse. Under AZ law, we must notify the appropriate authorities immediately if and when we suspect a minor, dependent or elder is being abused.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person or persons, we must notify the police and the intended victim. If a client is in danger of committing suicide, we will make every effort to get that client to safety.
Additionally, our Code of Ethics as a spiritual director requires that we work periodically with an experienced spiritual direction supervisor who will help us become better spiritual directors. In supervision, no names or specific identifying characteristics are shared.
Some general content from a session may be shared so that we may learn more about ourselves and grow as spiritual directors. The content in the case studies we present to our peer supervisors is kept in the loop of confidentiality. Clients, however, are not bound by any code of confidentiality. They are free to share anything from our sessions with another person.
This is a wonderful thing you have done to bring us together to discuss compassion and how we can encourage this in the broader community.

Working with Teresa has been extremely healing. Her presence, unconditional love and acceptance allowed me to sit with some of the big career and life transitions I was navigating. In the process, I uncovered what was my true calling, and I am working myself back to alignment with what I am called to do in this lifetime. I am very grateful for the opportunity and grace in working with Teresa Cowan-Jones for spiritual coaching.

Teresa Cowan Jones falls into the awesome category… It was immediately obvious to me that Teressa was, and is, something very special. She is a true professional. She is prepared for every session we have; she is a beyond a very good listener; she is paitent, and her questions are both clear and important. She keeps the focus on me, not her… Teressa has been with me through some of my very hardest times… She walked with me through the fear, anxiety, confusion, anger and just plain not knowing where God was with care, empathy and God’s love.

Teresa is gifted and she has always been the one whom you wanted to call when you needed support. She always supported me, and it was the most important thing. I'm really thankful for this relationship which helped me to survive and for having such a person in my life.

Teresa Cowan Jones has many years of experience as a spiritual director and guide, listening to people and helping them see where God might be moving in their lives. Teresa has been a great blessing to me in my life and I have benefited from her experience and knowledge. She listens deeply and skillfully asks questions. To this Teresa adds a compassionate heart, a most important gift for anyone accompanying others on their journey.

Over the years, I have experienced Teresa as a gifted spiritual guide, compelling retreat designer and leader, an insightful presenter among seasoned clergy, and as a welcoming visionary who helps people find sacred space and compassionate community beyond the conventions of the traditional church. In sacred and secular domains alike, she speaks with clarity and love. A mystic with both feet planted firmly on the earth, Teresa combines compassionate listening with a commitment to personal and social transformation. As both a spiritual director and community leader, she honors people as the divinely-beloved beings we are and helps us envision the engaged, meaningful lives we may yet live.
